The Purple Secret

By

Woke to the light of a brand new way,

In the golden glow of a cozy day.

Cold was the water that stole my breath,

Waking my spirit to life and its depth.

The world was wide and the fast was light,

I walked to the office in hope of the bright.

Past the faces, a smile I’d share,

Hoping a friend would be sitting there.

To my desk, to the screen, to the login time—

But I found a mystery, a gift sublime.

A purple lily, a soft, small grace,

Waiting for me in that crowded place.

Who was the admirer? Who was the hand?

In this sea of people, where do I stand?

Was it destiny calling? A sign from above?

Or a secret creature with a message of love?

I touched it gently, I felt the glow,

Of the shiny kid I used to know.

The hours they drifted, the petals they curled,

But I held the secret of a different world.

I’m in love with the mystery, the fate I can’t see,

With destiny teaching its lessons to me.

Can you grow in my house? Can you live in my air?

Away from the noise and the weight of despair.

The sun is now setting, you’re here by my side,

The secret of destiny, no longer to hide.

In the heart of my garden, I’ll keep you whole,

And share every whisper that lives in my soul.

I’ll learn the patience to wait for the breeze,

To grow in the stillness and find my own ease.

I wish you well, I will watch you shine,

A promise I’ll keep while your life is mine.

Through the turn of the shift and the strike of the hour,

I am staying with you… my purple flower.
