I found myself standing in the shine, my feet bare on a soft grass field,
Free from all thoughts, in a peace that finally felt real.
The boy who wonders with no fear, though he thinks he’s not enough,
Is trying so hard to rewrite a life that used to be rough.
For the first time he says, “I wanna love forever now,”
Instead of “Oh Lord, take me away from this world somehow.”
He always gave up on his dreams, a little guy with no regrets,
But destiny was tracing a soul he’d never forget.
Stuck inside a room with no doors, a dream used to play,
A girl in a beautiful silky blue dress flowing all the sides away.
She came by and sat so he could rest his head while she would sing,
But her face was never revealed, he never knew what destiny would bring.
Years passed by and the paths crossed again in the daily grind,
The boy who thought about work all the time left the dream behind.
But there she was—a beautiful smile, her eyebrows go up, her eyes glow when she smiles,
Is she the one he used to dream about all these miles?
Suddenly a song played in his mind from 3 Idiots: Zoobi doo parampa,
Rancho was at his peak in this moment of life, ha-ha!
All the dreamy, imaginary things just clicked into place,
Connected by a red string theory that time couldn’t erase.
We met at the coffee shop I love to go just to spend some time alone,
There she was with her friends, talking and laughing in a world of her own.
I was too shy to speak, stumbling over my own words in the air,
But I had a perfect poetry line in my mind, and the only one with a pen was her.
I said, “Excuse me, can I get that pen?” while she was laughing free,
But when we grabbed the pen, everything felt beautiful again for her and me.
Suddenly all the coffee days, I see her again and space was made,
She said, “I do write sometimes, maybe you can help me,” as the shadows fade.
She had an interview for content writing, so I gently sat down the next day,
Told her everything important, brainstorming the whole night away.
Searching every detail that would be best for her to find,
All the beautiful words were passed down, and her smile aligned.
She got selected, and the happiness I got was unbearable, ha-ha!
I smiled and gave her a high-five: “You deserve this, girl!”
The talks became deeper, the days quickly went by,
Until the day I asked, “Can we go out on a coffee date?” under the sky.
She didn’t smile. The agony! Trembling hands hidden inside my pocket…
But then she suddenly smiled and said, “Yes.”
